5 Must-Have Staples When Glamping

What comes to mind when you think of glamping? Extravagant tents? Twinkling lights? The best food you’ve ever had in your life? While the ideal glamping trip is different for everyone, there are a few things we think are crucial for the best possible glamping experience. Here are five must-have staples when glamping.

1. Fire pits and grills

What’s camping without delicious meals cooked over a fire? With glamping, you can enjoy food cooked outside without having to be an expert at building campfires. When glamping, look for a site that offers fire pits and grills to make cooking meals easier. At Glamplyfe, for example, we offer a BBQ grill for preparing food as well as fire pits for roasting s’mores.

Not sure if your glampsite will have fire pits or grills? There are a variety of portable appliances you can bring with you for cooking, such as a portable grill or travel stove. However, finding a site that already has the right cooking essentials on hand is more convenient and saves you from having to haul too many things on your trip. Plus, when you’re not cooking, fire pits are excellent places to stay warm on chilly nights while you chat with friends or do some stargazing.

2. Coffee

If you can’t start your day without a hot cup of coffee, you shouldn’t have to go without while glamping. Glamping, after all, is about camping without giving up your favorite creature comforts! The best way to ensure you always have access to fresh coffee is to find a glampsite that prepares coffee for you. At Glamplyfe, we have a charming trailer serving Blue Rose Coffee so you can have a little pick-me-up whenever you need one. Outside of the trailer we also have plenty of seating so you can sit and relax while enjoying your beverage.

If you go to a glamping site that doesn’t serve coffee, you can bring your coffee and a French press or pour-over coffee maker plus a pot for heating water over the fire or on a travel stove. If that sounds like more effort than you want to deal with while glamping, definitely book a site that will make coffee for you.

3. Bathrooms

When camping, your bathroom options are often limited. If you’re at a primitive site, nature is your bathroom unless you bring your portable toilet. Other campsites may offer pit latrines, outhouses, or porta-potties, but these may be small, dirty, and smelly. Want to take a shower? You may have to settle for using baby wipes and dry shampoo due to a lack of running water. None of these options are appealing if you ask us.

When glamping, a real bathroom is a must! At Glamplyfe, we have a shower house for our guests, which features multiple individual bathrooms. Each bathroom contains a flushable toilet, private shower, and marble sink. If you’re choosing glamping over camping, you shouldn’t have to wonder where to go to the bathroom or spend your time smelly and unshowered. Our shower house helps you feel fresh and clean every day for a positive glamping experience.

4. Comfortable place to sleep

A great night’s sleep can help you start the day feeling refreshed and energized. However, when you’re camping, you’ll likely have to sleep in a sleeping bag and may not have much more than a thin sleeping bag pad preventing you from feeling the bumpy earth below you. Depending on the weather and type of sleeping bag you have, you may also feel too hot or too cold.

When glamping, a comfortable place to sleep is a must-have! When choosing a glampsite, look for one that, at the very least, offers a cot and/or mattress to sleep on so you’re not sleeping directly on the ground. At Glamplyfe, we take it a step further and provide guests with a queen-size bed plus high-quality bedding and linens for a comfortable sleeping experience. We also provide wooden A-frame units to sleep in rather than flimsy tents, so you can feel confident that you’ll stay warm and dry during inclement weather or chilly nights.

5. Gorgeous scenery

Whether you’re camping or glamping, spending time in nature is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the atmosphere we were meant to be in. Whether your trip is for a brief weekend or an entire week, get the most out of your time away by booking a site with gorgeous scenery. Look for a location with green grass and trees, a body of water, colorful flowers, views of the sky, the cheerful sound of birds chirping, and more.

At Glamplyfe, our Happydale Retreat in Cambridge, Ohio is nestled in the pristine trees and hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Our A-frame units rest adjacent to our private lake so guests can begin each day with a view of the sun reflecting on the water. Surrounding the site are leafy trees and lush trails perfect for walking through nature without worrying about getting lost. You’ll enjoy clean, fresh air without having to travel far from city life.
